Just had an accident?

Four things to do first

Keep this list on your phone. The full checklist is in our 72-hour guide.

  1. 1Call 911 if anyone is hurt or a car can't be driven. Move off the freeway if it's safe.
  2. 2Photograph the cars, the road, plates, and the other driver's license and insurance card.
  3. 3See a doctor within 24 hours, even if you feel fine.
  4. 4Don't give a recorded statement to the other driver's insurer until you know your options.
